As part of their commitment to the 2011/12 Volvo Ocean Race, the ADTA hosted the stopover at the end of the second race leg. In the three weeks prior to the stopover event, we implemented a Facebook advertising campaign to recruit fans and drive engagement levels. Before the yachts arrived in port, the ADOR team had the largest fanbase of all competing teams and had achieved engagement levels on a daily basis of over 50%. Visitor numbers at the stopover events also greatly exceeded expectations.
